The HKASLD Young Investigator Research Grant

The Hong Kong Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (HKASLD) aims at promoting the advancement of the study of the liver. The HKASLD Young Investigator Research Grant is established to encourage young doctors to conduct liver research. Up to two Research Grants of HK$100,000 are awarded each year.

Application

Application for the HKASLD Young Investigator Research Grant is open from 1 June to 31 August each year
Applications are reviewed by the HKASLD Council
Applicants are notified by the end of September that year

Conditions

Application is limited to fellows or trainees in Hepatology who fulfil the following requirements:

Application should be made in English
Applicant must be an HKASLD member for 12 months and avove.
Applicant must be a Higher Physician Trainee in Gastroenterology and Hepatology under the Hong Kong College of Physicians at the time of application.
The project must be on liver research.
There is no restriction on the applicant's age.
Successful applicants are requested to receive the awards at the Annual Scientific Meeting of the HKASLD of that year and to present their research findings at either the Annual Scientific Meeting or a Quarterly Scientific Meeting (to be determined by the HKASLD Council) upon completion of the project within 2 years after receiving the grant.
A cheque of HK$100,000 will be issued to the department or the team of the successful applicant.

Application Requirements

Application will be reviewed and is limited to fellows or trainees in Hepatology. The following materials are required:

Applicant's one-page CV.
A study proposal.

Format of Study Proposal

No more than four A-4 pages.
Font: At least 11-point.
Character spacing: Normal.
Line spacing: At least single.
The following should be included in the proposal
- Title of the study
- Background
- Study design, methods, and plan of analysis
- Study timetable
- Budget
